Make media smaller.

Compress and convert videos, photos and audio on your Mac, with a size goal you choose.

See launch plans

Mac App Store release in preparation. Requires macOS 14 or later.

Drop in a file, choose a preset or a target size, then save a separate copy. Presso processes the media using Apple’s frameworks on your Mac.

Choose the output.

Make an attachment smaller, or change its format so someone else can open it.

Video

Convert a supported video to MP4 or MOV using H.264 for common playback needs. HEVC output is included with Pro.

Input support depends on your Mac’s media frameworks. Presso does not bundle support for every video container or codec.

Photo

Convert supported images to JPEG or PNG. Pro adds HEIC and AVIF output where your Mac supports writing them.

WebP is an input format, not an export option. Camera RAW support varies by camera and macOS version.

Audio

Compress supported audio to M4A. Pro adds WAV and AIFF conversion for workflows that need uncompressed audio.

Converting a lossy source to WAV or AIFF cannot restore detail that was already lost.

Smaller files can mean less detail. Conversion may re-encode media; inspect the saved result before sharing.

Keep control.

Set a size goal
Use a sharing preset, a target in MB, or a percentage. When a target cannot be reached, choose a larger size.
Check the result
Trim a supported video before processing. Compare supported photo and video results, then reveal or share the saved file.
Choose where it goes
New copies save to Documents/Presso by default. Change the destination or naming in Settings. Presso keeps originals unless you explicitly enable moving them to Trash after a successful save.
Repeat less with Pro
Process batches and folders, keep saved presets, and use watch folders for recurring work.

Free or Pro.

At launch, try your own files first. Pro adds unlimited compression and more control.

Apple and RevenueCat handle purchase verification and subscription information. That purchase service uses the internet; compression and conversion happen on your Mac.

Useful answers.

Can I use it offline?

Media processing runs locally. An internet connection is needed to load offers, buy or restore Pro, and refresh purchase status. Current access depends on the verified purchase information available to the app.

Will every size target work?

No. Duration, detail and the source format limit how small a usable output can be. Presso reports when it cannot meet a target so you can choose another setting.

Does it replace my original?

It writes a separate output. Keep originals is the default; moving them to Trash is an explicit option after a successful save. Review your source-handling setting before a batch.

How do I cancel Pro?

Open Presso’s Pro settings and choose Manage subscriptions, or manage the subscription in your Apple Account. Cancelling renewal keeps access until the current paid period ends. Purchase help.
